Richard Kolar named Director of the new practice Falls Church, VA - April 18, 2002 - Metrics Group announces the formation of a Research Services Practice specializing in patent mining, which is the process by which software tools search electronic patent databases to find useful patterns, trends, and relationships. Intellectual property attorneys and management consultants can use patent mining to find new technology licensing opportunities, conducting M&A due diligence, identifying competitive insights, and planning R&D strategies. Intellectual property attorneys and management consultants can use patent mining to add value for their clients. Richard Kolar has been named Director of the Research Services Practice. Having worked on numerous patent mining projects for Fortune 500 companies and leading technology firms, Kolar brings over 10 years of patent mining consulting experience to this position. "The Research Services Practice is designed to support IP attorneys and management consultants working on larger projects for clients. The attorneys and consultants can take advantage of Metrics Group's exclusive combination of patent mining tools without having to purchase or develop similar tools in-house. Additionally, they can also bill out Metrics' research services at higher rates to their clients," said Kolar. The Research Services Practice will use Metrics' patent mining tools in conjunction with a systematic patent mining methodology.
